The Deed "All that certain lot, piece or parcel of land situate, lying and being at Moser River, in the County of Halifax, Province of Nova Scotia, and more particularly described as being the same lot that was conveyed to William G. Jewers from David James Jewers by deed dated 2nd March, 1929, and recorded at the Registry of Deeds, Halifax, on the 28th day of July, 1931, in Book Number 670, Page 377, and BEQUEATHED TO Arthur Jewers by Will of his father, William G. Jewers and recorded in Book Number 23;
BOUNDED and described as follows:
BEGINNING at a stake in the marsh at the north-east corner of land owned by the heirs of the late George H. Moser;
THENCE Northerly by a fence until it meets the south line of the lot of which John Fraser now resides;
THENCE West by said line;
THENCE Southerly by said road until it meets the north line of the lands owned by Heirs of George H. Moser, decreased;
THENCE East by said line to the place of beginning.
SAVING AND EXCEPTING that lot conveyed in Book 3794, Page 961."
John Jewers, Jr. was settled at Ecum Secum by the 1780's. There is a marriage record of a John Jewers (born around 1720's in Philadelphia) and a Margaret Cook in 1745 in Philadelphia, Pa. John and Margaret may have moved to another State, where as son John could have been in the 1770 war and ended up in Nova Scotia in 1778-79. A petition in 1809 states that, "...he came to this province upwards of 30 years ago, and has been settled most of that time at or near a place called Ekemsagen River...". By 1813, the Jewers family, with Henry Pye, were the first permanent residents at Ecum Secum.
His wife's surname is not known but according to the baptismal records of the children, her first name was Mary. Their children were:

- James, b. 21 January 1783; m. 3 November 1806, Magdelene Moser. Magdelena married James Jewers, son of John Jewers and Mary, on 3 Nov 1806 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. (James Jewers was born on 21 Jan 1783 in Kingsburg, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and was christened on 10 Nov 1787 in St Paul's, Halifax.)
- Mary Margaret, b. 20 May 1786 Christened: 10 Nov 1786, St Paul's, Halifax. Mary married James Fleet on 27 Jan 1822 in Sherbrooke, Guysborough Co. Nova Scotia.

- Sarah, bapt. 30 September 1795; m. 9 December 1813, Henry Pye. Sarah married Henry Pye, son of Thomas Pye and Appolonia Elizabeth Hawbolt, on 8 Dec 1813 in St. Paul's, Halifax.(Henry Pye was born in 1786 and died in 1854.)
- Francis, bapt. 10 November 1799; m. 27 January 1822, Elizabeth Riley. Francis married Elizabeth Riley, daughter of John Riley and Nancy Ann Church, on 22 Jan 1822 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. (Elizabeth Riley was born on 15 Nov 1803 in Blandford and was christened on 22 Apr 1822 in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia.)
- Robert, b. 4 Jan. 1804,bapt. 1 April 1804; Robert married Ellen Whynot in 1827.
