Basic Lab ¬ Urinary Free Radical (Oxi- Data) test

This test measures the amount of aldehyde formed when free radicals attack an end of polyunsaturated fats in your body. Free radicals are molecules with uncoupled electrons which makes them very reactive.

They try to stabilize themselves by knocking electrons off of cells in your body and this is where the problems can begin. We require some free radical activity in the body but too much can cause problems like; fatigue, p.m.s., Fibromyalgia, cancer, liver and kidney damage, arthritis, allergies, diabetes, headaches and hypoglycemia.

Not enough free radical activity in the body can also cause symptoms. These can include; depression, fat gain, lowered immune function, insomnia, chronic low blood pressure, low sex drive, cold extremities, fatigue and heart palpitations.

You may want to do this test if you have any of the above symptoms or if you are currently taking or are thinking of taking Anti-oxidant supplements which help to counter free radical damage.

RESULTS

  • = minimal
  • = minimal
  • = low
  • = high
  • = very high
  • = severe
A score of 0 indicates no free radical activity, which also means low ATP function. ATP fuels our energy and our cells. If this is low and you are on antioxidants your dosage is too high. If you are not on antioxidants your cells need help in making energy for your body.

A score of 1 to 2 is normal.

A score of 3 to 5 indicates that there is too much free radical activity in your body and you should consider supplementation.

If you change your supplementattion regime due to the results from this test, it is advised to retest 4 weeks later to check results.
